RoboEpic’s Robo-Weekend!

 a reflection from RoboEpic 5017:
In the CT Qualifier on Saturday @ Loomis Chaffee, our robot performed very well – we were first-pick of the #1 seeded team for the semi-final matches. After many nail biting rounds, they advanced to the finals (a first for RoboEpic!). Three more heated matches later, the girls emerged as the Winning Alliance [won the robot game] (with another all-girl team and the Loomis-Chaffee team)! The also won the Promote Award (for FIRST promotional video made and directed by Charlotte Warne) AND placed second for the Inspire Award (role-models, best all-around team).  We’ll go on to the CT Championships on March 7th and a potential spot in Super Regionals (held at the University of Scranton over spring break).

In the NY [Empire] Championships on Sunday @ PACE University, though the robot was not as reliable this time around, the team won the Motivate award (team spirit and teamwork), was nominated as 2nd place in the PTC Design award (robot design and aesthetics), and came in 3rd place in the Think award (for best engineering journal).  While this is very impressive recognition, it didn’t earn us a spot in Super Regionals – we’ll get another chance on March 7th at CT states @ GFA.
