GatorTots have a World Class Win for FLL World Class Championship!
On Sunday, December 7, 2014, Greenwich Academy’s FLL teams, the EduGators #1252 and the GatorTots #1253 traveled to Shelton, CT for the CT State FLL Championship Tournament. Forty-eight teams, which were the “best of the best” from around the state, competed to win the coveted Champions Award, which is given to the best all-around team. Both teams competed in three rounds of robot obstacle course missions, teamwork and technical interviews, as well as presenting their innovative solutions to this year’s theme, World Class: Education! The EduGators created a “Wheel of Fitness” to make physical education more exciting, and the GatorTots build a fidget-chair which is geared toward helping kids focus by engaging their legs and hands, as well as their minds. While both teams had an amazing day, the GatorTots were ranked highly in each of the categories of Core Values, Project/Presentation, and Robot Design and Performance; this hardworking team earned the Third Place Champions Award, as well as a $200 cash prize for a unique and innovative robot. Though this is the end of another great FLL season, the teams have has fun and learned a lot along the way!
